About Ryan Cush

Portrait of Cush, tattoo artist

I've been tattooing for over a decade, getting my start working in busy street shops on the Las Vegas Strip. Working in those high-volume shops taught me how to tackle whatever walked through the door and build every piece to last.

In 2021, I relocated to Idaho, and today you can find me tattooing Sunday through Thursday at Born Weird Tattoo.

I specialize in Modern Traditional tattoos - a style rooted right between classic Traditional and Neo-Traditional. It takes time-tested fundamentals and classic imagery, then dials them in with dynamic line weights, smooth grey washes, and rich color blends built solid to stand the test of time.

I also love tattooing Cartoon and Anime pieces, Neo-Traditional designs, and custom florals.

Aftercare

Follow the routine that matches how your tattoo was covered after your session.

With Second Skin Bandage

  • Leave the second skin bandage on for 3 to 5 days.
  • The bandage is water resistant but not waterproof. Showering is fine, but no soaking or submerging.
  • The bandage creates a pocket over the tattoo where an ink sack can form. An ink sack is a buildup of blood, plasma, and ink. It will not hurt the tattoo, and it will look dark. If clear liquid builds up in the pocket, remove the bandage as soon as possible. Clear liquid is a buildup of outside water, such as shower water or sweat.
  • After 3 to 5 days, remove the bandage in a warm shower.
  • Wash the tattoo thoroughly with warm water, a gentle hand soap, and your fingertips. NO WASH RAGS OR LOOFAHS.
  • Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel or paper towels. DO NOT RUB IT DRY.
  • Apply a small amount of unscented lotion to the tattoo and dab off any excess.
  • Repeat the cleaning routine one to two times daily for 7 days after the bandage is removed.
  • Still no soaking or submerging the tattoo for those 7 days.

Without Second Skin Bandage

  • Remove the plastic wrap within 1 to 3 hours after the tattoo is finished.
  • Wash the tattoo thoroughly with warm water, a gentle hand soap, and your fingertips. NO WASH RAGS OR LOOFAHS.
  • Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel or paper towels. DO NOT RUB THE TATTOO DRY.
  • After 2 days, apply a small amount of unscented lotion to the tattoo after every time you wash it, and dab off any excess.
  • Repeat the cleaning routine one to two times a day for 10 to 14 days.
  • No soaking or submerging the tattoo for 14 days.
